UPDATE January 30, 2023
All puppies are sold, won’t have another litter for a year.
It was sad to hear on the news that 75% of puppies for sale are a scam, but we are not one of those. In fact we do not ask for any money until the puppy hand off, you give us cash and we hand you the puppy with all the paperwork, blanket, collar, and a toy.
I text regular updated videos and photos to the potential owner until the pickup, so you get to see the changes and personality shine through.
Now I want to talk about breeding. We found a basset that was not expensive at all, he was from a litter done for her son’s 4H project.
While the price was great he had medical issue after medical issue and died at 15 months, what family heartbreak 😔😢. Not every basset is meant for breeding, just because they can produce does not mean they should.
I looked into breeding and lineage I wanted our next family member to be around for as many years as possible. I believe I chose wisely getting Hubert with a great European lineage. With advise from our Veteranarian, great healthcare, and high quality food
Hubert and our athletic Maggie have had great healthy litters!
We have feedback from the last litter(s) puppy owners and pictures of what the 2019 litter looks like at a year old, see 2019 litter pics. I also have people willing to give a referral over the phone about their experience with Biggs Basset Hounds. Prices will depend on the costs associated with supplies and vet visits.
Biggs Basset Hounds puppies are only for sale because we let our furry family members mate, to complete other families, like yours 😃.
We are not a puppy mill or facility. Had 2 inspections so far by the State of Kansas Department of Agriculture and approved as Hobby Breeders.
We don’t have to pay to be a breeder since there are not more than 3 litters a year, but have chosen to be licensed.
The sire is Hubert Douglass (a tri-color), and Dam is Maggie Mae (a red/liver and white) had 4 litters so she is spayed.
All puppies have European blood in them as their sire/dad is
87% European, which means they have been lower to the ground, have looser skin, and definitely long ears.
Could not imagine a day without them.
ANGEL
Since this has been such a joy with Hubert & Maggie, we added a female basset to the family, (right before Emma)
She is purebred, high quality, 50% Brazilian and 44% European
Red&White basset hound.
Cannot image a day without her.
EMMA
I did not go looking for her but life brought us Emma, a female tri-color basset hound. not AKC but ACA, ACA litter registration, and papers to register by request.
Cannot imagine a day without her.
Angel’s puppies will be mostly European and will be
around $1,500.00 + 7.75% tax
Emma’s puppies will be European/American Basset mixed and be around $1,250.00 + 7.75% tax (2023 litter)
Lemon colored puppies will cost $1,750.00 plus 7.75% tax.
Again, depends on health check prior to breeding and prices may vary depending on the cost of the litters.
Basset hound puppies are perfect for families as they are friendly, sweet, and give such unconditional love. Basset hounds are better with canine buddy, so we are asking that the new home to have a canine already, or purchase 2. But we know sometimes a person just wants a companion that is home all the time and that is fine. Basset hounds do not like to be by themselves.
At first a basset hound puppy is very clumsy due to their long droopy ears. When you walk them they will step on them and fall. You also need to be careful if your home has steps or stairs. Puppy proofing your home is a great idea before they enter into your family.
We have found bassets are very mouthy dogs, as they will even eat your laundry.
Keep in mind that socks, small items, and trash are very dangerous!
Keep electrical cords out of reach!
Due to their short legs, they are not good swimmers.
Please keep in mind that they cannot eat chocolate, grapes, raisins, large doses of garlic or onions, and peanut butter with xylitol.
Puppies eat alot and should be fed 3 times a day, but as they grow you need to monitor their eating habits so they do not get obese and have that strain on their long back.
Bred to follow prey, your basset will follow an interesting scent, and once their nose is down, they are not very aware of their surroundings. We recommend you exercise your basset on a leash with a harness not a collar so he/she won’t get cherry eye(s).
It is best to provide a fenced yard for the safety of your basset.
As far as grooming, they will need regular baths, ear care, and nail maintenance.
They can be a bit lazy and stubborn as they age, but they are trainable.
I believe their personality comes from their upbringing, love & the environment around them.
AKC registration paperwork, deworming & vaccinations paperwork will be given at time of pickup.
The puppy has had dewclaws removed.
You will have to pick them up at our home out in the country near Junction City, KS it is just south of Interstate 70, exit 307.
WE DO NOT SHIP.
Cash only on the day of pickup.
Kansas Hobby Breeders License #CB0021VX.
